Description
Queen Amalia
The Queen is dressed according to the European fashion. She is wearing a reddish formal dress, embellished with black lace and chiffon. She is standing with her hands folded. On her right wrist, she is wearing a bracelet with Otto’s portrait on it and she is holding a hand fan with white feathers. Furthermore, she is wearing ten strings of pearls which reach her chest and a head cover made of black lace, embellished with red flowers on one side. This portrait was painted when Amalia lived in the New Royal Palace (today’s Parliament), in Syntagma Square.
