The Catholic Metropolis architecture
The Catholic Cathedral
From its construction to the present day, it has undergone consecutive and extensive renovations. However, it retains some basic architectural traits, which connotate the "marriage" between both Greek and Venetian cultures. Like St. Mark of Venice was influenced by the Byzantium, the Catholic Metropolis of Naxos also carries Byzantine elements (for e.g. domes) as well as western elements of Gothic architecture (e.g. pointed arches) along with ancient Greek columns, which were placed there at a later time.
