The Molossians
Ancient Orraon
Orraon belonged to the kingdom of the Molossians, the most famous of the numerous tribes that inhabited ancient Epirus. According to the myth, the Molossians were the descendants of Molossus, one of the sons of Neoptolemus, son of Achilles. Olympias, wife of Philip II, the king of Macedonia, and mother of Alexander the Great. Another famous member of the Molossian royal house, though, was Pyrrhus, the king who defeated the Romans in a Pyrrhic victory. The most renowned members of the tribe, though, are probably the hounds, which were used by shepherds to guard their flocks. They are the Molossoids, a canine breed that is native to Greece.
