The master mason was very much in demand, so halfway through the construction he moved to another city to build another church. His assistant took over the project, but he proved much better at it than his teacher. He redesigned the church and made it more brilliant. When the master mason came back, he grew very jealous. He asked his assistant to follow him on the roof, on the pretext of pointing out some mistake, and then pushed him over the edge. As the hapless man fell, he pulled the murderer with him. Both men were transformed into the red stones currently located in the SE corner of the church. Virgin Mary herself came down from Heaven, to comfort the assistant’s mother, giving the church the name Parigoritissa (Panagia of Consolation).
