Dodona’s little sister
The great theater
The great theater of Cassope is fairly similar to the theater of Dodona, so it will suit our purpose just fine. The architects selected a fine location at the foot of the acropolis, a naked rock that rises behind it. I figured it has a seating capacity of 6,000 people, so more than half of the city’s population would be able to watch a play here. The orchestra is slightly larger than a semicircle while the stage building is rectangular and comes equipped with two elongated paraskenia, as well as the proskenion where the canvas with the painted scenery would be placed. The auditorium is fairly sharply inclined and the architects secured it in place with strong retaining walls on both ends.
