From a school to a museum
The Epirotic Studies Society
The Ottoman mansion of Michael Angelo Street was built in the 19th century, but at the 20th it ceased to be a residence and turned into a school. Initially, it hosted the Teaching School of Ioannina, later the Zosimea Pedagogical Academy and the Gymnasium for Boys. Today, along with the neighboring building, they host the collections of the Folklore Museum of the Society of Epirotical Studies. Gold-embroidered traditional costumes, tools, embroidery and jewelry carry the habits and the symbolism of pre-digital society of Ioannina to the present.
