Tiny finds
Passaron | The heart of the Molossians
Archaeological excavations have brought to light walls, foundations, pottery, and jewelry. But there also some finds that are tiny; seeds, fish and animal bones, traces of wood are carefully collected and prove that people had granaries full of wheat from which they made white bread whose quality was exalted in antiquity. They also consumed chickpeas, grass peas, lentils, and fruits (though only some grape seeds have come to light). There are numerous traces of wood: oak, maple, elm, linden, dogwood, hazel, beech, almond-leaved pear, and hawthorn. The forests of Epirus offered an abundant supply of wood that was used to make roofs, furniture, utensils, and doors.
