Immortal houses
Orraon
In ancient Greece people built their houses with a stone foundation and walls made of unbaked clay. The citizens of Orraon, though, had access to abundant sources of limestone and therefore used it for their homes. This happy coincidence preserved the private residences of this town and allows the researchers of the ancient world to look at two-storey houses still standing; the window frames and the holes for the beams that supported the upper floors are still visible. The houses of Orraon are a valuable manual of ancient architecture for the specialist and an unforgettable experience for the visitor.
