The famous Molossians
Orraon
Orraon belongs to the Molossians, one of the countless tribes that lived in ancient Epirus, and perhaps the most famous. According to the legend, the Molossians are descended from Molossus, who was a son of Neoptolemus, the son of Achilles, the hero of the Trojan War. Olympias, wife of King Philip II of Macedonia and mother of Alexander the Great also belonged to the Molossians. Pyrrhus I, perhaps the most famous ruler of Epirus, also belongs to the same family tree. The Molossians were also known for their large shepherd dogs, a purely Greek breed.
