Amorosa
The Prince's spring
The lover of Diamantopoulos (mechanic in the mines) attempted to throw herself off the rocks of Printzipa, due to shame, when her family came from Volos. Diamantopoulos saved her from drowning. The locals called her Amorosa, as this was the name used for women who lived with men out of wedlock. Perhaps it was this story which triggered N. Kazantzakis's imagination to create the myth of Madame Hortence.
