Star house
Star House
Here, at the number 77, is another house of one of Rembrandt's clients. His name was Nicolaes Bambeeck, and he commissioned portraits of his wife and himself from Rembrandt. The house itself is also quite interesting, because you can see how the houses were marked during the 17th Century. There were no house numbers during that time. Instead, houses would have a symbol in their gables. You can see a bright golden start on this one. It was known as a Star House because of it.
