The Sculpture is 18 meters tall, made of an alloy called Cor-ten (after which the sculpture got its second name) and it was imported from France especially for the occasion. Cor-ten, a weather-proof steel and copper alloy, is known for its durability to atmospheric corrosion, does not need protective paint or rust protection, and it develops a dark-brown patina over time, which does not change, and resembles primitive raw materials. According to the sculptor “its final color, kind of creates a reference to the Byzantine feeling radiated by the monuments in Thessaloniki.”
