The Colosseum square
It is impossible not to be mesmerised by the sheer beauty and imposing grandeur of the Colosseum. After all, it is the biggest Roman Amphitheatre in the world! It was constructed during the reign of Vespasian, between the years 72 and 80 AD. There are certain things you can’t imagine having another name and the Colosseum is definitely one of them, but, believe it or not, Italy’s icon was originally called the Flavian Amphitheater since it was built under the Flavian dynasty. The Flavian Amphitheatre, which back in the days could accommodate more than 50.000 spectators, today is regarded as a symbol of Rome and is listed among the 7 wonders of the modern world.
