A timeless structure
The cavea
The term cavea is used for the seating sections of the Colosseum and all other Roman amphitheatres. The seats surrounded the arena, while passages called vomitoria allowed the crowds to exit rapidly after the end of the show. The cavea structure is one of the finest elements of Roman architecture, present in the majority of the surviving Roman stadiums and arenas.
