The Paolina hall (no. 22)
Having the statue of the angel behind you, you will see a stairway on your right (pay attention: the staircases leading to the terrace are only one way. You can’t walk downstairs from the same staircase you came up!). Climb down the stairs that lead to the Paolina Hall (Sala Paolina) (official number 22 or no 14 of the official audioguide). Going downstairs, pay attention to the steps: they are narrow and slippery and might be dangerous. As you head downward, you can enjoy a temporary exhibition of photographs and paintings that represent the Castel Sant’ Angelo, as well as the pyrotechnics that have occurred over the years at the site. Keep going, and you shall find yourself in the Paolina Hall.
