The Doges’ portraits
The frieze of the Sala del Maggior Consiglio is decorated with portraits of the Doges. The wall on the right of the Capture of Constantinople features 6 such portraits. Counting from left to right, the first panel is remarkably different. Instead of the face of the Doge, there is a black veil painted. This is where the Doge Marino Faliero should be depicted.
