The Beginning
The entrance plates
The beginning of the creation of the Library’s valuable collection came in 1840, when Konstantinos “Agathofronas” Nikolopoulos donated his collection of books to the municipality of Andritsaina. 47 crates full of books traveled by ship from Paris to Nafplio, escorted by two of his compatriots, to arrive here, in Andritsaina. After 39 years of staying in the church of Agia Varvara, the collection was housed in the area’s Gymnasium building, while since 1998, the Library has been housed right across the street, in the place we find it today.
