Festina lente
Pindar, Rome 1515
The book is a publication of the historical Italian publisher and typographer Aldo Manuzio, one of the most prominent printers active in Venice during the Renaissance. Originating from a wealthy family, Manuzio had received classical education by the standards of his time and had studied Greco-Roman literature in depth. What made him stand out most was the aesthetic performance of his books, the size of the paper, the font and other details that led him to search for new methods for the time. Its distinctive logo publications with the anchor and dolphin, which are associated with the Latin Festina Lente motif and adorned the Roman coins of 80 AD, became well-known throughout Europe. To these were added the initials of AL. DUS. on the right and left of the anchor.
