The School
Sights of Andritsaina
Right across the library building, one can see the historical building of the Gymnasium. In 1875, the construction of the Andritsaina School began on Nik. Mpampoudimos’s land, U-shaped and with its north-east side open, as designed by M. Kanellopoulos. The money came from a Pan-Hellenic fundraiser and a donation by Aggelos Yiannikesis, a Greek Consul in Trieste. The building was inaugurated in 1879 and the Library was housed on the West side of the 1st floor. In 1932, the north-east wing was added and the building took its present form, being the educational center of the wider area for 150 years.
