African head vase, NAM 11725
Having the funerary statue to the front, continue to the next gallery, which is dedicated to the sculptural decorations from the temple of Aphaia in Aegina. At the end of the gallery, on your left hand, there is a small glass display case with human head-shaped vases. They were used as vessels for olive oil and essential oils. They would be deposited in temples or next to the dead. The African head vase (number 11725) is our next point of interest.
