School celebrations
The school
School celebrations were an important event for the inhabitants of the settlement who eagerly contributed to their organization, according to their capacity and ability. The carpenter made the platform for students to recite their poems, the mothers sewed the costumes and the teacher prepared the celebration. It was an official event attended by the local authorities. In the front row sat the head of the dam with his wife, the teacher, the colonel, and the policeman. Residents from the neighboring village of Kalentzi were also invited. The festivities continued throughout the 1950s and stopped in 1960 when the school was permanently closed and turned into a dormitory for carpenters and blacksmiths.
